The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to feature tenor Daveyd Pepper as special guest artist for The Planets on Saturday, May 27 at the Living Arts Centre. Daveyd joins the orchestra to perform Mahler’s Song of the Earth.

Daevyd Pepper is a Toronto-based queer artist who strives to be a catalyst of change in both the art form and industry of opera by using his voice to challenge, heal, and inspire audiences and communities worldwide.

A graduate of the University of Toronto Opera School and an alumnus of prestigious training programs such as Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Vancouver Opera, Calgary Opera, Banff Centre, Highlands Opera Studio and the Chautauqua Summer Voice Festival, Pepper is known for his performances as Male Chorus (Rape of Lucretia), Johnny Inkslinger (Paul Bunyan), Lenski (Eugene Onegin) and Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte). As a champion of new music, Pepper also debuted the lead role of Addison Witless in the world’s first zombie opera Prima Zombie.

In addition to their performing endeavours, in 2020 Pepper co-founded Opera InReach, a collective dedicated to the civic impact of opera in Canada through education. They are a champion of young people and hope to empower and inspire the next generation of artists, arts administrators, arts audiences, and arts allies.
