The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra would like to extend sincere condolences to the family of Barbara Douglas. She will be deeply missed by everyone at the MSO.

DOUGLAS, BARBARA JOAN (nee McBRIDE) 1932-2022. Beloved wife of the late Bill Douglas after 48+ years of marriage, proud mother to Catherine and her husband, Ken Peacock; Paul (Patricia) and his late wife, Arlene; and the late John. Barbara is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Madonna Lee, and husband, Geoff. Cherished “Gran” to Sean, Allana (Dan), Claire, Courtney, Kimberly, Andrew, Rachel, Grace and Ava; adored great-grandmother “G.G.” to Delilah, Abby, Damien, Cheyenne and the newest arrival, Douglas, on December 6, 2022. Her family and living out her faith were important to Barbara, as was music and her love of dogs. As one of the original parishioners of the Church of Saint Luke-Dixie South, Barbara actively served in a number of capacities throughout her life. Much of her other volunteer work was centered on supporting young musicians and music in Mississauga. She was involved with various aspects of the Mississauga Symphony (MSO) including babysitting musicians’ babies on rehearsal nights, music librarian, the women’s committee, looking after the guest artists, and had the honourary title of “Principal Second Triangle” in the orchestra. Barbara was the first recipient of the MSO John Barnum Service Award in 2013.
