Director of Fundraising and Development (part-time)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Orchestras Mississauga has an immediate opening for an experienced, part-time Fundraising Professional to design strategies and execute programs to achieve development objectives. The successful candidate will be required to be able work from home, with Zoom meetings and other online communications key to the success. Concerts, rehearsals and some meetings will take place at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga when restrictions in Peel are relaxed somewhat, and eventually lifted.

The position is built upon a part-time commitment of 25 hours/week with flexibility depending on orchestra and board activities.

Orchestras Mississauga consists of two orchestras, both led by Music Director Denis Mastromonaco:

Mississauga Symphony Orchestra ….a large community based symphonic orchestra with a combination of professional section leaders and volunteer community musicians. In normal circumstances the MSO rehearses weekly at the Living Arts Centre, and performs 8 to 10 concerts annually in Hammerson Hall at the Living Arts Centre.

Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra…. a vibrant youth orchestra with over 150 members ranging in age from 8 to 18. In normal circumstances the MSYO rehearses weekly at the Living Arts Centre and performs 4 concerts annually in Hammerson Hall, with one concert shared with the MSO during the Christmas season.

Both orchestras have typically taken part in concerts and run-outs extra to the regular season, including mall performances, Paint the Town Red Canada Day parade in Port Credit, and other opportunities as they arise.

Reports to Executive Director. Works closely with Board members and Fundraising Committee

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for delivering all aspects of fundraising and development for the organization including recruiting new sponsors and supporters, campaign design and implementation, and stewardship.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in fundraising for not-for-profit organizations for a minimum of 5 years. A background in performing or visual arts field an asset.
  • Strong familiarity with the Mississauga community
  • Experience with fundraising software – Dan Cooperstock “Software4Nonprofits” an asset
