Experience the magic of the holidays with the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and A Merry Little Christmas! Featuring over 200 MSO and MSYO musicians plus special guests, it’s the perfect start to the most wonderful time of the year. Enjoy two performances — a one hour, family-friendly matinée at 4:00PM, and a two-hour concert for all-ages beginning at 7:30PM. Before each performance, the Living Arts Centre atrium will come alive with a Long & McQuade instrument petting zoo and a festive used book sale, perfect for curious young musicians and last-minute Christmas shoppers alike.
Guest vocalists Marina Salis and Matthew Black bring an added sparkle to this year’s program. Salis, a dynamic young performer with a 20-year background in music, dance, and acting, has appeared in The Baker’s Wife, Into the Woods and Rent. She now balances her artistic career with her work as a biomedical ethicist at CAMH.
Black, an emerging Canadian baritone praised for his warm tone and commanding musicality, has performed with leading artists and ensembles including Andrea Bocelli, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Les Arts Florissants, and The Toronto Consort, with recent solo appearances at Koerner Hall and in Bach’s Mass in B minor.
“A Merry Little Christmas is one of our most treasured traditions,” says Maestro Denis Mastromonaco, Artistic Director & Conductor. “It’s a chance for families and friends to come together and share in the joy of music. With Marina and Matthew joining our combined orchestras, both performances promise to be full of Christmas magic.”
