SINFONIA (STRINGS ONLY)

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass

  • Recommended ages: 8 to 12 years
  • Experience level: beginner to intermediate knowledge of the instrument
  • Outcome: to learn the musical and ensemble skills necessary to progress to the Philharmonic
  • Sinfonia will rehearse on their own and perform together with the Philharmonic

PHILHARMONIC
(INTERMEDIATE ORCHESTRA)

Winds: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon

Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba

Percussion: Timpani, Orchestral Percussion, Mallets and Piano

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass

  • Recommended Ages: 12 to 16 years
  • Experience Level: intermediate knowledge of the instrument, some previous orchestral experience is required
  • Outcome: to learn the musical and ensemble skills necessary to progress to the Symphony Orchestra

SYMPHONY (FULL ORCHESTRA)

Winds: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon

Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba

Percussion: Timpani, Orchestral Percussion, Mallets and Piano

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass

  • Recommended ages: 14 to 23 years
  • Experience level: intermediate to advanced knowledge of the instrument, previous orchestral experience is required
  • Outcome: to provide young musicians exposure to symphonic music in a professional and educational environment
  • Spots in the Symphony Orchestra are limited

The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra has been active in Mississauga since 1972. It has been a resident tenant inside the Living Arts Centre since 1997. The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra has grown significantly in both membership and profile, and is now proudly designated as one of Mississauga's six pillar institutions of arts, culture, and heritage.
