Jan 25 & 28: La Traviata - A Fully Staged Opera

November 20, 2019

Trying to find the perfect gift for the music aficionado in your family? Give the gift of opera. After successful productions of Carmen and La Bohème, the MSO will return to fully-staged opera with a production of Verdi's masterpiece, La Traviata. This perennial favourite tells the story of the tragic love between the courtesan Violetta and the romantic Alfredo Germont. Played out against the hypocrisy of upper-class fashionable society, Alfredo and Violetta’s love threatens to shame his family. When Alfredo’s father directly appeals to Violetta to relinquish her one chance of happiness, Violetta submits, and her act ofself-sacrifice leads to her paying the ultimate price. Our productions will take place on January 25 and January 28 within the splendour of Hammerson Hall, a world class theatre that is at the heart of the Living Arts Centre. Join us, and experience the power of opera.

VIOLETTA VALÈRY: Cristina Pisani

ALFREDO GERMONT: Keith Klassen

MUSIC DIRECTOR: Maestro Denis Mastromonaco

STAGE DIRECTOR: David Ambrose

Tickets range between $30-$90. To purchase, call: 905-306-6000, or visit: https://bit.ly/2QBor8U. La Traviata will be produced with generous support from the Living Arts Centre.
