Director's Message

After 34 years as the Music Director of Orchestras Mississauga, I have been looking back on years of wonderful music making. I liken the history of our concerts to a series of wonderful meals. Naturally, the main courses provide music that has stood the test of time whether it is Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, Debussy or Elgar. We have had the great feasts of Huge Choir and Orchestra Extravaganzas to Galas and multi media presentations. We have not ignored the intimate experience of providing small orchestra events in churches or chamber music at the library. Our desserts have been plentiful highlighted by Big Band Jazz concerts, show tunes and Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos. In a word, our menus have been ‘varied’. The joy of coming to a Mississauga Symphony concert is that even though many programs may look traditional, you never know what new young composer will bring you the ‘taste of year’. Maybe an erhu concerto will whet your appetite for broadening your musical horizons. Whatever happens, you can be guaranteed that your enjoyment will be matched by the musicians on stage.

Join us for an evening out!
